Our Refinishing Process
Preperation
-
We will professionally clean the bathtub or other surfaces with specialized industrial cleaners. Some of these products will actually break down the original surface, in preparation for receiving a brand-new finish coating.
-
All dirt, soap scum, detergents, dyes, and other contaminants will be removed. We will specially prepare the existing plumbing fixtures and drain for the process. Surrounding walls will be prepared if they are to be refinished. The original caulk line on the bathtub, which is often mildewed, will be removed. Any chips, pits, or other damage to the original bathtub or another surface will be repaired using products designed for these surfaces.
-
Your bathroom or another area will be masked off, which protects surfaces that were not meant to be refinished. We will set up special ventilation equipment in the bathroom. A non-slip surface mat (highly recommended on rentals) may be installed if ordered by the customer.
Application
Our Residential Bath technicians will know which are the best coatings to use in your home, apartment, or hotel. We will apply your new surface in a surface prep phase, a bonding/priming phase, and a topcoat phase. These phases may require several application steps. Much of this work must take place in a sealed room, performed by a trained technician wearing protective equipment, and as such, you should NEVER enter a room where a refinishing process is taking place unless escorted by a refinishing Technician. Special spray equipment applies many of the products used, to ensure a beautiful, durable, high-gloss finish.
Completion
Our Bathtub Refinishing Technician will remove his equipment and check the surface. Cure times may vary depending on the type of coatings used. Your Bathtub Refinishing Technician will discuss this with you ahead of time. The bathtub or other surfaces will be unmasked, and a new bathtub caulk seam may be installed at this time. In one day your bathtub will have a new, high gloss, beautiful finish!
